It's not all about money — supplies, time (depending on your location), and/or other resources you may be able to assist with are also welcomed. Based in Atlanta, ForeverFamily focuses on providing support and services to children with incarcerated parents and their families.
The Boris Lawrence Henson Foundation works to eradicate the stigma around mental health issues in the African-American community by providing support and bringing awareness to these issues.
The Wounded Warrior Project provides support and a variety of resources to veterans and service members who incurred a physical or mental illness or injury while serving in the U.S. military on or after 9/11.
NYC-based HairOnPurpose helps teenage girls find self-love and confidence as well as mental and emotional health by using hair, beauty, and health education as an entry point to support and help them with social issues that impact them during their formative years.
My Brother's Keeper Alliance is a nonprofit taking on the persistent opportunity gaps facing boys and young men of color. It focuses on getting kids ready to learn in school, achieving reading at grade level, graduating from high school and attending college, completing job training and post-secondary education, successfully entering the workforce, reducing violence, and providing a second chance to those who have been caught up in the criminal justice system.
